Ostrich Versus Emu

The ostrich and emu are two of the world’s largest birds. A fully grown ostrich (Struthio camelus) can weigh up to 450 pounds and stand up to eight feet tall. The emu (Euphorbia nigricans) is slightly smaller, but can still weigh up to 140 pounds and stand up to six feet tall. These birds are a valuable source of meat, leather, and feathers. Although ostriches and emus do share some traits, such as their bipedal nature and the fact that they’re flightless birds, they also have plenty of differences that set them apart from one another. For instance, the ostrich is considered to be stronger than the emu. In addition, ostriches can run faster than any other bird on the planet and can cover more ground with each stride.

In the wild, ostriches can live up to 20 years. In comparison, emus can live up to 40 years.

Emuses can be found in most parts of the world, and they are a popular sight to see in Australia. These creatures are omnivorous and eat both plants and animals. They’re able to do this thanks to their strong legs, which can carry them up to 30 miles per hour.

Both ostriches and emus are protected species, but they’re facing some serious threats from poaching and habitat loss. Fortunately, many people are taking steps to protect these incredible birds and ensure their survival for generations to come.
